And that is how change happens. One gesture. One person. One moment at a time.
When I see Megan rotating her shoulders when she punches or turning her hips when she kicks I feel so proud. when she leans back on a knee, using her core all while rising up ever so slightly on the ball of her foot I feel like a proud mama. When she does all of those things all while maintaining a very intense conversation with her partner Carmen, I just smile and mix up the combinations, maybe add some squats and mountain climbers!
This is a woman who told me on more than a couple of occasions that " my body just doesn't move like that".
What does Megan have to say about moving like that now:
I joined LoveYou Kickboxing looking for something new after suffering overuse injuries from many years of running. The things that keep me coming to class are: Cheryl's sunny disposition and the fact that class is always fun and presents something new each week.
I love LoveYou Kickboxing because I have seen real changes in my body (strong arms was never something I achieved through long distance running!) and there is nothing like punching to let off the stress that seems to accumulate in my body. I was not of the mindset to join group fitness classes, and considered myself to be a runner. I used to think that not being able to run long distances would lower my quality of life. LoveYou Kickboxing has changed the way I think about exercise, about myself, and I feel great after every class. It is so fun!
