I met Amie Akbarpour almost a year ago when she started taking my classes. One of the things I love about Amie is that she's always game to try new things. I sometimes ask my ladies to try more advanced technique, but often I ask them to make the fundamentals new by making small changes. When we get too comfortable we stop improving.
Amie has progressed impressively because she works hard and she's not afraid to be uncomfortable.
Amie is an instructors dream, she listens to me and heeds what I say.:) Even going into a night shift Amie often makes class before work. She is a true pleasure to teach.
I first joined LoveYou Kickboxing because my coworker and friend, Maggie, started going to LoveYou Kickboxing and told me how awesome it was and encouraged me to come along with her and give it a try.
What motivates me to keep coming back is what a good workout I get and how great I feel afterward. I also love that every class is different from the previous one. I find I get bored doing the same workout over and over again, so I really enjoy the variety Cheryl incorporates in her classes. Plus it's fun to punch and kick things!
What I love about LoveYou Kickboxing is the amazing new people I have met and how encouraging everyone is. I also love the great workout and how much fun I have when I'm there. Cheryl is a great instructor. She is great at motivating us to try new moves, very thorough on teaching the proper technique for each move and always has a smile on her face.
LoveYou Kickboxing has benefitted me by teaching me a new skill set, increasing my physical strength as well as increasing my confidence. I feel that trying something new is mind over matter. When I'm trying a new workout that takes me out of my comfort zone I think of a quote I heard Dolvett Quince say, "tell your mind to get out of your bodies way and MOVE". LoveYou Kickboxing is such a positive, nonjudgemental environment that it is the perfect place to come to if you want to try a new workout, burn some calories, learn new skills, meet people and have a laugh. My favourite combo is jab/cross/round kick; but I also enjoy pyramiding round kicks - it's an awesome workout!
Thank you Amie for loving you and doing what you do!
