LoveYou Kickboxing's Fly Girl!
First Love You
Strength doesn't come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't.
I received a heartfelt email from Abbey a few months ago. She expressed concern about a previous injury and told me that the content on my site had resonated with her and she was very much looking forward to taking my class. Abbey is a gift, she truly is an instructors dream. She works hard and heeds instruction to always put technique first. A mother of a 2 and 4 year old, she doesn't have a lot of time for herself. I believe that when you're open to it, the universe brings you exactly what you need when you most need it. Abbey was ready to start putting her well being first and I'm so happy that she chose LoveYou Kickboxing as the means to do it.
I took a fitness kickboxing class years ago at a recreation centre and liked it but they didn't focus on technique. When I saw the living social deal for LoveYou Kickboxing and read the website, something sparked inside me that this is the right place for me. Best decision that I have made.
This is the best workout I have ever gotten in my life. Each class is different and I can feel my muscles working and in only a matter of weeks I was able to see the difference in my body shape and my endurance. I'm loving the shape developing in my arms, this is something I have tried to attain with weights and never could get. Everyone in the class is supportive and FUN, especially Cheryl. I've had a previous injury and I was nervous about kickboxing but with Cheryl's modifications of moves and the building of muscle, I feel great. No pain except the "good" pain after a fabulous workout. I especially love that I can shut my mind out to everything else and just focus on my kicks and punches. This is true "ME TIME".
I especially love all the advice that Cheryl gives. She inspires me to be a better person. She is generous with her time and knowledge. I truly love kickboxing. At home, I'm shadowboxing in the kitchen and while I walk down the hall. It's addicting. And I can't believe I'm going to say this since I have always dreaded the plank....I LOVE DOING THE PLANK since being in Cheryl's class! Still can't believe that I can hold it for over a minute, even with my arms and body shaking. Cheryl's proven to me that I can push myself beyond my own boundaries.
Starting out is always the hardest part of exercise. My advice, do something at home and challenge yourself to do a little better every day. With a two and four year old at home, my time is tight. I started with just walking up and down our stairs. It's only 9 steps up. The first day I did 10 sets and I set a goal to add one set per day. I surprised myself when two weeks later, I was already up to 50 sets. That felt great!!! It's a great strategy...baby steps and then take a big leap. You can amaze yourself. Build your confidence and then take a class that makes you feel great. I'd recommend kickboxing. There is something so satisfying about punching and kicking that no other exercise class compares. Once you get started, you don't have the chance to feel insecure or anything. It's so much fun and a great workout focusing on kicking and punching. Most importantly, put yourself on your to do list. Exercise is crucial not only for your body but for your mind as well. It keeps you sharp and happy so you are truly present in the rest of your life.
Thank you Abbey for loving you and doing what you do!
